If you are a member of the CCPC and want to be part of our first publication please forward your submissions to: onehorsetown@commoncold.org.au Please have them forwarded by August 18th 2008 this means you have two weeks to submit your work, old or new. You can submit as many poems as you want at whatever length. The collection of poetry will be launched at the National Young Writers Festival Oct 2-6 2008.
28 May 08 Blues, Booze and Poetry
This winter the Common Cold are spreading their verse with the help of Melbourne blues peddlers The Goodtime Medicine Band. The show also features guest musician Albury Maher of The Brunswick Blues Shooters.
This year the Colders have organised two electric shows the first in Wollongong: Saturday 28 June @ The Balgownie Hotel 141 Balgownie Rd, Balgownie NSW. From 6:30 PM till late

30/03/08 Common Cold to Perform at Zine Fair!
The Collective will be performing at the Zine Fair at Wollongong City Gallery. The fair includes workshops presented by Vanessa Berry (I am a Camera and Strawberry Hills Forever) Ianto Ware (Westside Angst, Das Papierkreig) and Matt Huynh (STiKMAN).
The fair will also include: comics, artists books, art, badges, hand made toys, clothing, accessories, vintage and recycled wares, baked goods, CDs and records.
When? Sunday 13th April 12:00 - 4:00PM Where? Wollongong City Gallery This is a Free Event presented by the South Coast Writers Centre.
20/2/08 New Calendar Events! The Rocket Readings 6:30pm TUES 18th March
Rocket Readings, the SCWC’s 2008 series of poetry readings. The first in the series will be held at 6.30pm Tuesday 18 March, featuring guest poet David Brooks and an open mic section. Where: Music Farmers, 5 Crown Lane in Wollongong (If you are eating at the Music Farmers café you can BYO) Coffee and soft drinks also available from the café. When: 6:30pm TUES 18th March The CCPC are encouraged to attend this read instead of our normal workshop meeting - as it's a chance to schmooze, booze and binge. Headlands v2 2008 - FRI 18th April Due to the great success of the last Headlands, Ms Susan Angel has arranged another show - this time with a spot dedicated to you, the CCPC poets. We have gathered volunteer readers and also nominated some - please make sure you're free to attend or if you can't attend notify someone asap. When: FRI 18th April 08 Where: Headlands Hotel The readers: Sal, John Layton, Adam Norris, Bridget Lutherborrow, Paulie Layton, Ben Hurley and Luke Johnson 3/1/08 Common Cold Comeback 08! The comeback meeting for 2008 will be held Tuesday February 5th at the South Coast Writers Centre at 7:30 PM. Both prose and poetry are welcome at the meetings. We will also be discussing the schedule for 2008. 5/12/07 Ron Pretty & Joanne Burns Reading - 11th December 07 Next Tuesday's meeting on 11th Dec will be postponed for a reading at the SCWC by Ron Pretty and Joanne Burns "two of Australia's very best poets," - Ali Smith.
Starting at 6PM.
There will be refreshments and a chocolate and literature raffle, there will also be an open mic section for SCWC members and supporters.
This is a free event but donation's are gratefully accepted.
All CCPC members should be there!
Inspiration Workshop - 11th December 07
Following the reading there will be an inspiration night held by Melisa Tompkins at her home near SCWC in order to remember why it is that we write, and what it is that we wish to communicate.
Bring a poem that you love and be ready to share it and have a chat. There will also be time for a short workshop.
Please RSVP to me by email or mobile as Melisa will be preparing a light supper.

To all the common colders who are not currently members of the SCWC I urge you to become members and support the centre that has supported us all the way through 2007.
Student membership is only $10 per year. You can do this right now by filling out the membership form and returning it to Ali at the centre.
4/12/07 Workshop a la Sally & Bridget's
It got a little bit rowdy and stretched on into the night and the turnout was great! We had both poetry and prose work shopped this time which mixed it up a little. We also saw the return of old members like John Layton, Alise Blayney after a short hiatus and welcomed new members Jenny Finlay and Arcadia Lyons. 30/10/07 For Next Week's Workshop! (Nov 6th)
As a part of a new performance work shopping exercise please bring a poem without your name on it! Details revealed on the 6th so come to the meeting.
Meeting Time Change
Due to the ongoing lateness of members the meeting time has been pushed back 30mins (to 7:30) in order to allow for late members.
25/10/07 Short & Sweet in 60 Seconds
'Short & Sweet in 60 Seconds' is a platform for new and established poets to perform their work in a relaxed, friendly and very public environment.
Three poets will perform each night for one minute in the Short & Sweet festival bar at the Newtown Theatre after the plays. The audience will consist of writers, actors, directors, producers and the general public.
All poets are invited to submit one minute worth of poetry to be part of this event.
Submissions are open now to December 5th 2007!
24/10/07 Tide Launch
Kung fu, sex and rehab are just some of the themes in Tide 2007. On Friday 26th October at 7pm, the Faculty of Creative Arts will launch Tide -an annual publication of creative writing from UoW students and the greater community.
The launch is an opportunity to enjoy readings from this year's exciting new edition, to meet the featured writers and artists, to meet the students who produced it, and of course, to take home your copy. Light refreshments will be provided. Tide will be on sale during the launch for $5. Tide 2007 features many common cold poets/writers including:

25/09/07 Bacon, Soapboxing and Purple Suit Jackets
The performance went incredibly, there was bacon throwing, screaming, booing it was an experience to say the least.
